Director, Content Localization – APAC

Netflix is hiring a Director, Content Localization – APAC based in Tokyo, Japan. About the Role

The Content Localization team owns the full pipeline from original audio and text through to finished dubbed and subtitled assets for Netflix’s international content library. In this position, you are overseeing Language Production Leads and Operations Leads across multiple APAC countries, managing both the creative quality and the operational throughput of episodic television, film, and interactive content. On any given day that means reviewing regional KPIs, aligning with global leadership on a five-year localization roadmap, and partnering with Finance to track dubbing and subtitling costs across markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a regional localization strategy covering dubbing, subtitling, and accessibility workflows, aligned with Netflix’s global content globalization objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and build out high-performing teams of Language Production Leads and Operations Leads across multiple APAC territories.
• Represent APAC in global operational and creative strategy discussions, surfacing regional audience insights that influence company-wide localization decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement across multilingual post-production workflows, holding the bar on both technical standards and cultural authenticity in translated content.
• Partner with Content, Production, Marketing, Legal, and Finance teams to keep dubbing and subtitling pipelines running in step with release schedules.
• Monitor competitor localization activity and union or guild developments across the region to keep Netflix’s position current in the market.

What You Bring

• Extensive senior leadership experience in content localization, dubbing production, or multilingual post-production at a studio or major streaming service.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large distributed teams across multiple APAC markets with different language, regulatory, and industry guild environments.
• Hands-on knowledge of dubbing and subtitling workflows, including accessibility asset production for episodic television and film.
• Experience owning localization budgets and working directly with Finance on cost tracking across regional operations.
• Fluency in the cultural and creative considerations that separate functional translation from localization that serves the viewer.
