Warner Bros. Discovery is hiring a Director, AdTech Engineering based in Hyderabad, Office Level 3 & 4, Block A – East Wing, to lead the engineering teams powering the advertising technology platforms behind WBD’s linear and digital media properties. This role sits at the intersection of ad serving infrastructure and streaming monetization, directly supporting the ad decisioning and measurement systems that generate revenue across WBD’s global content portfolio. It suits a senior engineering leader who has scaled enterprise-grade ad platforms in a media or broadcasting environment and knows how to move large distributed systems from legacy architecture into something that actually holds up at scale.
About the Role
The AdTech Engineering team owns the platforms that drive advertising across both linear broadcast and digital streaming pipelines at Warner Bros. Discovery. This Director, AdTech Engineering role covers ad decisioning, identity, targeting, measurement, and experimentation systems, running across a distributed cloud-native architecture. Day to day, that means steering multiple engineering teams through delivery cycles, reviewing system designs for fault tolerance and scalability, and working directly with product and business stakeholders to align technical direction with monetization strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multiple engineering teams with clear accountability for delivery, quality, and operational reliability across AdTech systems supporting linear and digital advertising workflows.
- Own architecture decisions for distributed ad serving, decisioning, and targeting platforms, making deliberate trade-offs between latency, scalability, and cost.
- Drive modernization of legacy ad infrastructure into modular, cloud-native systems with standardized abstractions and improved observability.
- Build agentic AI-based systems using current tooling including LangChain and Mixture of Experts frameworks to advance automation across the ad platform.
- Ensure engineering practices meet SOX compliance standards and align with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements relevant to media advertising technology.
- Partner with product, operations, and business teams to translate technical decisions into roadmap priorities and resolve cross-functional conflicts clearly and efficiently.
What You Bring
- 15 or more years in software engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles managing teams through complex, multi-system delivery.
- Proven experience designing and scaling enterprise ad platforms, ideally within media, streaming, or broadcast advertising environments.
- Hands-on familiarity with distributed systems architecture, including high-availability and fault-tolerant design patterns for ad serving pipelines.
- Working knowledge of LangChain and MoE-based AI tooling as applied to platform automation and decisioning systems.
- Track record of managing platform modernization programs, including migration of fragmented legacy systems to cloud-native architecture.
