Mikros Animation is hiring a Directeur.trice technique Maya to join their Montreal studio. This role sits at the intersection of the pipeline and production departments, responsible for building and maintaining the Maya-based tools and asset workflows that keep VFX projects moving from modeling and texturing through to final delivery. It’s a fit for a TD who’s equally comfortable writing a Python script before lunch and triaging an artist’s asset problem in the afternoon.

About the Role

The Directeur.trice technique Maya works closely with the Pipeline department at Mikros Animation to develop scalable tools and optimize asset workflows across VFX production. Day-to-day, that means handling first-line technical support for artists, owning the publishing pipeline for modeling and texturing departments, and identifying friction points before they become production bottlenecks. The role covers both greenfield tool development and the ongoing maintenance that keeps a live production pipeline stable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support to artists on assets and shots, diagnosing issues and maintaining production scripts and workflows in Autodesk Maya.
  • Design and optimize asset workflows across departments, aligning pipeline processes with production requirements and studio standards.
  • Develop, build, and maintain scalable, reusable tools that integrate cleanly into the existing VFX pipeline.
  • Build and maintain publishing tools for modeling and texturing, validating assets against technical specifications and data integrity requirements.
  • Perform quality control on assets, address revision notes, and ensure consistency across the production pipeline.
  • Document tools thoroughly and train artists and department users on new systems and workflows.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience as a Maya Technical Director on VFX or animation feature film production or episodic television projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Maya, including tool development and pipeline integration.
  • Solid Python scripting skills applied to production pipeline and asset workflow development.
  • Experience with publishing pipelines and asset management within a multi-department production environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot interoperability issues between Maya and other digital content creation software in the pipeline.
