ASVA Studentenunie in Amsterdam is hiring a video editor to join their in-house info team on a part-time volunteer basis. This role sits within the promotional content department, producing short-form social media video spanning informational, campaign-driven, and satirical formats. It suits an editor who is early in their post-production career and wants real output credits while building a professional network in the Dutch media landscape.

About the Role

The info team at ASVA handles all promotional material for the organisation, and this video editor position sits at the centre of that social media content pipeline. Day to day, you work directly alongside the staff photographer and videographer to take raw footage through to finished cuts ready for publishing across ASVA’s channels. The output ranges from straightforward informational pieces to more creative, satirical short-form video, giving you variety across the post-production workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit raw footage into finished social media cuts across informational, activist campaign, and satirical content formats.
  • Collaborate closely with the in-house videographer during the editing process to maintain visual consistency across all published material.
  • Contribute to decisions around pacing, tone, and on-screen text to suit each video’s intended audience and platform.
  • Support the info team’s broader short-form video production schedule, managing your assigned cuts within a two-hour weekly time commitment.
  • Bring editorial judgment to how ASVA presents itself online, thinking beyond the cut to how individual videos serve the organisation’s digital presence.
  • Deliver exports formatted and optimised for the specific social media platforms where ASVA distributes its content.

What You Bring

  • Currently enrolled as a student or recently graduated, based in or able to work from Amsterdam.
  • Working knowledge of at least one professional video editing software application, such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Familiarity with short-form social media video formats and the pacing conventions of platform-native content.
  • Ability to commit approximately two hours per week consistently across the volunteer term.
  • Prior editing credits or a showreel are a plus, but not required for this role.

Why This Role

ASVA Studentenunie is one of Amsterdam’s longest-running student advocacy organisations, which means your work reaches a genuine audience and carries real stakes beyond a portfolio exercise. Volunteers receive complimentary ASVA membership, access to the organisation’s services, and a volunteer compensation payment at the end of the year. For an editor looking to accumulate short-form post-production credits and make connections in the Amsterdam media and advocacy space, this is a practical first step.

Apply now for the video editor position at ASVA Studentenunie and get your first credited post-production work in front of a real Amsterdam audience.
