About the Role

The Costume & Makeup Artist works directly with scare actors and costuming staff to deliver finished character looks for each performance night during the Magic Screams season, which runs from September 26th through October 31st. This is a live entertainment production context, not a controlled studio set, so the work demands the same consistency and speed you would expect from a theatrical makeup department running multiple shows per week. A typical shift involves prepping actors from a face chart, fitting and adjusting costumes, and providing touch-ups and quick changes as the event runs.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply theatrical and special effects makeup, prosthetics, and face and body paint to build scare character looks based on approved face chart designs.
• Assist performers with costume fitting, dressing, and mid-shift adjustments to maintain both show quality and actor comfort.
• Execute touch-ups and quick costume changes during live event operations without disrupting performance schedules.
• Collaborate with costuming staff to ensure each character’s final look is cohesive across makeup and wardrobe.
• Track and organize makeup supplies, prosthetics, and costume accessories throughout the seasonal run.

What You Bring

• Demonstrated skill in makeup application, with preference given to candidates who have theatrical makeup or special effects makeup credits.
• Familiarity with prosthetic application and face and body paint techniques used in live or staged performance contexts.
• Working knowledge of costume preparation, fitting, and basic garment repairs.
• Availability to work weekend evenings from September 26th through October 31st. Must be 18 or older.
• Ability to stand and work on your feet for up to eight hours per shift and lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
