About the Role
The Coordinator, Acquisitions works within the SPC Acquisitions and Production department, one of the most respected acquisition operations in specialty film distribution. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the EVP’s calendar and maintain a department-wide weekly schedule covering meetings, screenings, and festival attendance across domestic and international markets.
- Take delivery of all project submissions including scripts, works-in-progress, and finished films, log them in the company’s Airtable database, and track each project through consideration or pass.
- Read scripts and watch cuts, then deliver written and verbal coverage to the acquisitions team to support the material evaluation process.
- Coordinate DCP screenings in-office and locally for the SPC acquisitions team, handling all scheduling logistics with internal and external parties.
- Work alongside the Acquisitions and Production Research Analyst to monitor competitor theatrical releases and maintain an updated tracker of VOD and day-and-date distribution activity.
- Interface with SPC Marketing, Sales, and Operations on scheduling and interdepartmental logistics, and process expense reports for the EVP covering travel and local business activity.
What You Bring
- Genuine knowledge of American and international film, including an understanding of the specialty film distribution landscape and how acquisition decisions get made.
- Experience reading and covering scripts or projects in a development, acquisitions, or production context.
- Proficiency across both PC and Mac platforms, with working knowledge of Airtable, Google Docs, and social media tools relevant to tracking film releases.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to articulate a clear opinion about a project while remaining open to the team’s perspective.
- Proficiency in a language beyond English is a plus, given the international scope of SPC’s acquisitions work.
Why This Role
