Job Position(s): Compositor (DNEG VFX)
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

DNEG is hiring a Compositor to join their VFX team in London, United Kingdom. This is a compositing role sitting within a full-service post-production pipeline, responsible for integrating live-action plates with CG elements to deliver finished visual effects shots on high-end feature film productions. It suits an experienced compositor who has carried complex shots on major features and knows how to work across departments to hit a brief.

About the Role

You will be embedded within DNEG’s compositing department, working directly under Compositing Supervisors and VFX Supervisors on feature film VFX pipelines where the shot complexity is high and the margin for error is low. Day to day this means attending client reviews and dailies, managing your own shot queue, and solving integration problems that range from blue and green screen extractions through to fully CG-integrated environments. The work demands both a technical command of the compositing process and a trained eye for how light and photography translate from set to screen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Composite live-action and CG elements across a varied slate of feature film shots, from keying blue and green screen footage to full CG integration at a final pixel level.
  • Attend daily review sessions and client-facing reviews, presenting shot progress and responding to notes from VFX Supervisors and production.
  • Develop and apply creative compositing approaches to technically complex shots, owning the problem-solving process within the established VFX pipeline.
  • Execute all aspects of composite FX design in line with the production’s visual brief and internal quality standards.
  • Follow DNEG’s production methodologies and maintain consistency across deliverables within the wider compositing team.
  • Apply a working knowledge of practical lighting and photography to inform compositing decisions and ensure CG elements read convincingly against plate photography.

What You Bring

  • Significant VFX industry experience as a full-service Compositor, with a track record on the most complex shots in high-end feature film production.
  • Substantial working knowledge of Nuke as your primary compositing tool.
  • A grounded understanding of photography and practical lighting as they apply to post-production compositing work.
  • Prior experience as a Roto and Prep Artist is a genuine advantage, though not required.
  • Strong communication skills, a calm approach under production pressure, and the ability to adapt across different shot types and supervisory styles.

Why This Role

DNEG is one of the most consistently credited VFX houses in feature film production, with a compositing department that works across major studio tentpoles and awards-contending projects. This Compositor role offers direct exposure to supervisors and shot work at the top end of the complexity scale, which is a meaningful step for anyone building a senior compositing career. The London base puts you within one of the most active VFX production hubs in the world.

If your compositing credits stand up and Nuke is your native language, apply now for the Compositor position at DNEG.
