Compositing Supervisor

Rodeo FX is hiring a Compositing Supervisor based in Montreal to lead the 2D department across high-end film and television productions. This role sits at the intersection of creative direction and technical oversight, responsible for the quality and consistency of all composited shots from internal review through final delivery. About the Role

The Compositing Supervisor works directly alongside VFX and CG Supervisors, keeping the compositing department aligned with the overall creative direction on each project. Day to day, that means running shot reviews, giving notes, unblocking artists on complex sequences, and maintaining the integrity of the VFX pipeline from early comp through client delivery. This is a hands-on leadership position, not a purely administrative one.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate the project’s visual direction into clear, actionable compositing briefs and maintain that standard across all shots through daily internal reviews.
• Partner with VFX and CG Supervisors to resolve cross-department technical challenges and keep the final image consistent across complex sequences.
• Validate script compliance, render optimization, and deliverable quality to ensure all work meets Rodeo FX pipeline specifications before it reaches the client.
• Contribute directly to the development or execution of key shots, stepping in on sequences that require senior-level compositing expertise.
• Monitor shot progress against production schedules, anticipate bottlenecks, and adjust artist priorities to keep deliveries on track.
• Drive ongoing improvements to compositing workflow strategies, including documentation of tools, templates, and procedures for use across projects and departments.

What You Bring

• Several years of professional compositing experience in post-production, with a meaningful track record at the supervisory level on feature film or episodic television.
• Deep proficiency in Nuke, including script optimization and template development within a structured VFX pipeline.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor compositing artists, deliver clear feedback under production pressure, and support team development over the course of a project.
• Experience contributing to bids, delivery planning, and cross-departmental supervision workflows.
• Fluency in French or English, with the ability to communicate effectively in a bilingual Montreal studio environment.
