Job Position(s): CG Supervisor - ILM London
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

ILM London, part of Disney, is hiring a CG Supervisor to join their VFX studio in London, UK. This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership and production management, responsible for translating a VFX Supervisor’s creative vision into a workable CG pipeline across discipline departments and global teams. It suits an experienced technical artist who has grown through area lead or associate supervisor roles on high-end visual effects projects and is ready to own the full technical scope of a show.

About the Role

The CG Supervisor sits between the VFX Supervisor and the discipline leads, keeping the VFX pipeline running efficiently across departments including lighting, FX, rigging, and rendering. Day to day, this means running technical reviews, resolving workflow bottlenecks, managing storage and compute resources, and aligning global counterparts across ILM’s studio network. You are the person who ensures that what’s creatively intended is technically achievable within the budget and schedule a production can actually support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the technical and creative approach alongside VFX Supervisors, standardising pipeline processes across global ILM facilities to ensure consistent output across the VFX pipeline.
  • Forecast and manage production resources including storage, processing, and software licensing throughout the life of each show.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical bottlenecks that would impact schedule or artist throughput across CG disciplines.
  • Provide technical and artistic direction during asset reviews, monitoring progression and ensuring work meets the established quality bar for high-end visual effects projects.
  • Coordinate with Producers and VFX Supervisors on staffing and scheduling, contributing to bids and recruitment to match talent to production demands.
  • Lead show wrap activities including asset archiving and centralised documentation, and represent studio capabilities directly to clients.

What You Bring

  • Established leadership experience within a CG department, at Area Lead or Associate CG Supervisor level or above.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality work across multiple high-end visual effects productions, with a demo reel or shot breakdown required as part of your application.
  • Expert-level knowledge of at least one CG discipline, with broader familiarity across VFX production workflow and post-production pipeline.
  • Working knowledge of tools such as USD, Maya, Katana, Houdini, RenderMan, or Unreal is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams at all levels of a production.

Why This Role

ILM is one of the most recognised visual effects studios in the industry, with a production slate that spans major feature film productions and episodic television at the highest level of the craft. The London studio operates as a fully integrated part of ILM’s global network, which means real collaboration with teams across multiple facilities rather than working in isolation. This is a hybrid role requiring two days on-site per week at the London studio.
