BC General Application
- Full Time
- Vancouver
Zoic Labs
Zoic Studios is accepting BC General Applications from film and television professionals based in Vancouver and across British Columbia and Ontario. This is a standing general application for VFX artists and production staff looking to be considered for roles within Zoic’s visual effects pipeline, covering everything from compositing and 3D to look development and rendering. It suits experienced crew and recent graduates alike who want to get on the radar of one of Vancouver’s most active VFX studios before specific positions are posted.
About the Role
Zoic Studios operates as a Houdini, Maya, VRay, and Nuke studio, meaning most of the work lives inside a high-volume VFX pipeline supporting episodic television and other screen productions. A typical day, depending on the position matched to your skills, involves working within that toolset to hit shot milestones, respond to client feedback, and contribute to a team moving sequences through production. The studio currently offers remote work from home with the option to work on-site, with all remote staff working on Pacific Standard Time.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce visual effects work within a Houdini, Maya, VRay, and Nuke pipeline at a level consistent with episodic television deliverables.
- Interpret client briefs and supervisor notes to iterate on shots through the VFX review process.
- Maintain organized scene files and adhere to studio naming conventions and asset management standards.
- Communicate clearly with leads and coordinators on shot status, flagging technical or creative issues before they become downstream problems.
- Deliver work at the quality bar required for broadcast and streaming post-production schedules.
- Participate in dailies and incorporate feedback efficiently within project timelines.
What You Bring
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: Houdini, Maya, VRay, Nuke.
- Any level of production experience is considered, from recent graduates to artists with four or more years in VFX production.
- A portfolio or reel that demonstrates your specific discipline, whether that is FX, lighting, compositing, or another area of the VFX pipeline.
- Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid Open Work Permit with sufficient remaining validity.
- Current residence in British Columbia or Ontario, with a reliable ethernet internet connection for remote work.
Why This Role
Zoic Studios has a long track record in episodic VFX production, with credits across major broadcast and streaming television series. Submitting a BC General Application means your file stays active and gets reviewed when a role matching your skills opens up, which is a practical way to enter a studio with consistent production volume. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted, so a strong reel and complete application materials matter here.
Submit your BC General Application to Zoic Studios today and put yourself in front of one of Vancouver’s most consistently active VFX production teams.
