About the Role

The Artiste Animation works directly with the animation lead and supervisor to deliver shots that serve the creative direction of each project, whether that means naturalistic creature movement or heightened character performance. Day-to-day work involves animating within the studio’s established pipeline, collaborating with rigging and technical teams to resolve shot-level challenges, and iterating on performance notes through review sessions. Rodeo FX works across feature film production and high-end episodic television, so the output is expected to hold up at the highest level of the industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver polished animation across creature, character, and prop assignments, applying both naturalistic and stylized movement depending on project requirements.
• Develop convincing performance-driven animation that serves the narrative and aligns with the established creative vision of each production.
• Work closely with rigging and pipeline technical teams to identify and resolve rig limitations or workflow blockers that affect animation quality or turnaround.
• Participate in department-wide reviews, incorporate supervisor feedback efficiently, and push the quality of each shot through successive rounds of iteration.
• Keep production leads informed of shot progress, flag potential delays early, and communicate technical or creative issues clearly across departments.
• Share knowledge with junior animators and contribute to developing animation techniques that improve the department’s overall output.

What You Bring

• Solid professional experience as an animator within a VFX studio or animation studio environment, with credits on feature film or episodic television productions.
• Strong technical proficiency in industry-standard animation software, with the ability to work cleanly within a production pipeline.
• Demonstrated range across animation styles, from photorealistic creature work to more heightened character performance.
• Ability to work independently, manage your own shot load, and meet production deadlines without close supervision.
• Clear communication skills and experience giving and receiving creative and technical feedback within a team setting.
