Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Per Project
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Mikros Animation is hiring an Animation Artist on a temporary contract basis in Paris. This role sits within the animation department and is focused on delivering character, creature, and object performances across feature film production, from blocking through final polish. It suits an animator with a strong grasp of physical performance and the production discipline to work efficiently inside a structured VFX pipeline.

About the Role

You will be embedded in the animation team at Mikros Animation, working shot-by-shot under the Animation Lead and Supervisor to meet creative and technical deliverables on current productions. Day to day, this means interpreting briefs, working from reference, receiving notes in dailies, and handing off clean, export-ready scenes to downstream departments. The work spans realistic creature animation, stylized character performance, and mechanical or object animation depending on the project brief.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver polished animation work that meets the creative intent of each shot while adhering to the project’s technical specifications and pipeline standards.
  • Demonstrate a solid command of core animation principles including timing, weight, arcs, and posing across both realistic and stylized performance contexts.
  • Interpret creative direction and reference materials to build nuanced, expressive performances that serve the shot’s storytelling purpose.
  • Ensure all animation files are clean, correctly named, and structured for handoff to rigging, effects, and lighting departments without rework.
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot rig or scene-level technical issues in coordination with the technical team before they affect the production schedule.
  • Participate actively in dailies and reviews, presenting work clearly and incorporating supervisor notes efficiently between sessions.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrable experience as an Animation Artist on at least one feature film production or long-form animation studio project.
  • Strong working knowledge of Maya, with the ability to navigate a production rig and maintain scene hygiene to pipeline standards.
  • A solid reel showing range across performance styles, whether creature, character, or mechanical animation.
  • The ability to self-manage shot estimates, flag delays early, and adjust priorities in collaboration with production coordinators.
  • Experience working within a structured VFX pipeline and familiarity with handoff protocols between animation and downstream departments.

Why This Role

Mikros Animation has a strong track record in feature animation, with credits that include major international productions and a studio culture that treats craft development as part of the job. This temporary contract is a direct route into a professional animation studio environment in Paris, working on production-level material with experienced leads. The team actively supports peer knowledge sharing and internal learning as part of how they work, not as an afterthought.
