ARE YOU READY TO BECOME A “MADE IN NY” PA?

The “Made in NY” Production Assistant Training Program is here to help you access your potential in the television and film production industry. First, though, there are a few things you should know about the lifestyle of a Production Assistant. (We talk more about this in detail at our regularly scheduled information sessions.)

PAs CAN EXPECT:
  • Long (12 to 14 hour+) days
  • Work schedule includes early mornings and overnights
  • Physical labor, on your feet
  • Outdoor work in all weather
  • Freelance work – working day-to-day and project-to-project
  • Pay rates of $210/day
  • Driving is required for this position.
    (You do not need to own a vehicle to be selected for this program.)
ELIGIBILITY

Applying is a highly competitive process. The following are our core eligibility requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Have a valid driver’s license (out-of-state licenses accepted.)
    (Those without a driver’s license are welcome to apply. Applicants must be 18-29 years of age to be considered for the “Made in NY” PA Driver’s Education Scholarship.)
  • Current New York City residents ONLY, living within one of the 5 boroughs of NYC and able to prove residency of at least 6 months
  • Underemployed, Unemployed, or low-income
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S
  • Available full-time and able to attend the four-week training program (Monday through Friday, 7:30am-6pm)
  • Available after graduation to work freelance, on-call 12/14+ hours per day in TV/film production
  • Able to make a 2-year commitment to working full-time in the TV and film production industry after graduating from the “Made in NY” PA Training Program

We will be unable to consider applicants that do not meet all the above eligibility requirements. Attend an info session to receive further information.

This program requires a 2-year commitment to developing your career in TV/film production. Please do not apply if you are employed full-time, enrolled in school, or plan to enroll in school in the next two years.

This program is specifically funded to help individuals from low-income backgrounds who do not have significant experience in or access to this industry. You are not eligible for this program if you have more than 2 years of paid media, radio, print, production, post-production, or theater experience. Similarly, you are not eligible if you have supervised production assistants (paid or unpaid) or if you have a Master’s or Doctorate degree.

Are you ready to work hard, gain industry experience, and make your mark? Attend an information session online to learn more about the program and fill out an application. Info sessions are held over zoom.

A limited number of training spots are available per class. We accept applications year-round and hold classes 4 times a year. Attend an info session as soon as possible.
