Session Videographer

Washington State Legislative Support Services is hiring a Session Videographer based in Olympia, WA to cover the 2027 legislative session. This is a video production role embedded within LSS Video Services, a department that handles broadcast-quality capture, editing, and motion graphics for the Washington State Legislature. The role suits a working videographer who’s comfortable in a structured government production environment and can operate without editorial bias in a politically charged setting.

About the Role

LSS Video Services functions as an in-house production unit serving the House of Representatives, the Senate, and legislative sub-agencies, producing content that reaches the public through official broadcast and social media channels. Day-to-day production workflow includes shooting floor debates and committee meetings, recording legislator-hosted programs, and handling post-production on a consistent weekly schedule. This is a full-time, temporary position running January 4, 2027 through April 30, 2027, with on-site attendance required Monday through Friday, including session holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate professional video cameras to capture House and Senate floor debates, committee hearings, and campus events in a live, unscripted production environment.
• Record and edit weekly Legislative Update programs featuring legislators, formatted for distribution across social media platforms.
• Edit footage using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects within the Adobe Creative Cloud suite on Mac-based post-production workstations.
• Create motion graphics to support video deliverables, maintaining consistency with established legislative broadcast standards.
• Transport and set up production equipment between locations on the capitol campus, with regular lifts of up to 15 pounds.
• Manage turnaround on edited content under tight session deadlines while maintaining broadcast-quality output throughout the legislative calendar.

What You Bring

• Minimum two years of professional videography experience, with a reel that demonstrates both shooting and editing ability.
• Hands-on proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Premiere Pro and After Effects, on a Mac platform.
• Experience operating professional video cameras in live, non-scripted production settings, ideally in broadcast or government video production.
• Familiarity with Panasonic DSLRs and Blackmagic Design Studio 4K Pro cameras is a plus.
• A video resume with original shooting and editing samples is required to be considered, no exceptions.

Why This Role
