FlightStory is hiring a Video Editor for Hot Smart Rich, based in Los Angeles. This is a post-production role sitting at the heart of the show’s longform editorial workflow, responsible for taking raw interview footage through assembly cut to final published episode on YouTube. About the Role

The Video Editor works directly with the Executive Producer of Hot Smart Rich, shaping conversations into structured, watchable episodes that hold audience attention from open to close. Day to day, this means owning the full post-production workflow on each episode, from organising project files and building the first assembly through to delivering a technically compliant final cut for YouTube. You will also support the wider content ecosystem, including photography and videography, and feed edits into the show’s social media output.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the longform editorial process on Hot Smart Rich episodes from initial assembly cut through to final delivery, maintaining consistent creative and technical standards across every episode.
• Work with the Executive Producer to shape narrative structure, episode pacing, and the strongest editorial moments from each recorded conversation.
• Apply music, sound design, graphics, archive material, and other visual devices to elevate episodes beyond straight interview coverage.
• Use audience retention and watch-time data to inform editing decisions and improve episode performance over time.
• Maintain meticulous version control, structured project files, and up-to-date asset management across local and cloud storage systems.
• Deliver final episodes correctly formatted and technically compliant for YouTube and other publishing platforms, managing deadlines proactively to avoid bottlenecks.

What You Bring

• Three or more years of experience editing longform content in-house, at an agency, or as a freelance editor.
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and the broader Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
• Familiarity with YouTube platform specifications, social media video formats, and current trends in longform content production.
• Experience editing talk-format, documentary, or interview-driven productions where story structure must be built in the edit.
• Organised post-production workflow habits, including clear asset naming conventions and reliable file management practices.
