Senior Videographer

Haymarket Media Group is hiring a Senior Videographer to join the What Car? editorial team in Twickenham, Greater London. This role sits within the video production unit, responsible for shooting and editing long-form car reviews, comparative tests, and short-form social content for the What Car? YouTube channel and digital platforms. It suits an experienced videographer with a background in digital publishing or media production who is comfortable owning the full workflow from location shoot to final delivery.

About the Role

What Car? has been Britain’s primary car buying resource for over 50 years, and the video team produces content that serves a substantial online audience across YouTube and social platforms. This Senior Videographer position works closely with the Video Production Manager and Reviews Editor, contributing to both domestic and international shoot schedules. A typical week moves between location shoots with editorial presenters, editing long-form review packages, and cutting short-form assets optimised for YouTube Shorts.

Key Responsibilities

• Shoot and edit long-form car reviews and comparative tests to a premium standard, covering all aspects of camera operation, lighting setup, and multi-channel audio recording.
• Produce short-form video content for YouTube Shorts and social media platforms, adapting footage and pacing to suit each format’s specific audience behaviour.
• Manage colour grading, sound design, and the precise integration of graphics, lower thirds, and technical vehicle data across edit timelines.
• Support pre-production planning and equipment logistics for location shoots, including preparation for international productions.
• Track YouTube analytics and platform trends to inform content decisions and help shape the channel’s editorial direction.
• Balance multiple post-production timelines simultaneously, maintaining output quality against strict publication deadlines.

What You Bring

• Hands-on experience shooting and editing in a media, agency, or digital publishing environment, with a confident command of location and studio production workflow.
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Premiere Pro and After Effects.
• Proven ability to produce short-form social video content, with a clear understanding of YouTube channel dynamics and platform analytics.
• Experience operating professional camera systems, lighting rigs, and audio equipment across varied location conditions.
• A full UK driving licence, required for location shoots.
