Videographer and Editor

Business Insider is hiring a Videographer and Editor based in New York City, NY. This is a post-production role sitting inside BI’s video journalism department, where the primary output is long-form interview series built around investigative and explanatory storytelling. It suits an editor with a background in documentary or journalistic video production who is comfortable owning both the shoot and the cut.

About the Role

The Videographer and Editor works across three flagship series: Authorized Account, which profiles secretive organizations through expert interviews; How Crime Works, which unpacks the criminal underworld using reformed criminals, whistleblowers, and law enforcement sources; and The Pay Check, a personal finance series examining how real people manage money. Day to day, this person is in the edit suite shaping episodes from assembly through final delivery, sourcing archive and B-roll, and occasionally running the camera at Business Insider’s New York studio. The position carries a three-day-per-week in-office expectation and is union-eligible.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit episodes of Authorized Account, How Crime Works, and The Pay Check through the full post-production workflow, from rough cut to picture lock, across multiple deliverables each quarter.
• Serve as the lead creative and technical eye on-site during shoots at the New York OLP studio, overseeing framing, lighting, and sound capture.
• Research and license archive footage and fair use sources to build B-roll packages that support long-form interview storytelling.
• Partner with the development team to define the visual language and pacing of new series, building custom graphic packages and motion assets in After Effects.
• Source and evaluate emerging AI-powered production tools to reduce turnaround times and streamline the editorial process.
• Coordinate with remote international studios via video link to manage distributed shoot logistics within episodic television timelines.

What You Bring

• Proven credits in long-form interview production, documentary editing, or journalistic video series.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and After Effects as core tools in your post-production workflow.
• A track record of archive research and B-roll sourcing across licensed and fair use libraries.
• Strong storytelling judgment applied to pacing, narrative structure, and editorial rhythm in non-fiction formats.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted editing tools and a willingness to test new production workflows.
• A firm commitment to journalistic accuracy and editorial standards.
