About the Role

A typical day involves logging footage, pulling selects, organizing scripts and b-roll, and participating in edit reviews with a clear read on pacing and platform tone. Assignments run on news deadlines, so schedule flexibility, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is part of the job.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and shape clip-based VOD content for CNN’s streaming platform, applying editorial judgment to story structure, pacing, and format for each specific distribution context.
• Log footage, pull selects, and support fact-checking and media sourcing to keep production timelines on track across concurrent assignments.
• Organize production assets including scripts, graphics, b-roll, music, and archival material so the broader team can access them efficiently during post-production workflow.
• Support producers during pre-production by contributing to story treatments, conducting research, and helping shape editorial angles with platform relevance in mind.
• Assist on-set or remote shoots by handling gear, slating, and taking production notes, and participate actively in publishing processes with an understanding of CMS and asset management tools.
• Monitor platform trends and audience behavior to inform content decisions and ensure all published material meets CNN’s editorial, legal, and rights standards.

What You Bring

• One to three or more years of experience working in a digital newsroom production environment.
• A bachelor’s degree in journalism or technical production, or equivalent professional experience in editorial video production.
• Proficiency with CMS platforms, asset management tools, and basic platform metrics, along with camera and audio operation skills.
• Strong writing skills for visual storytelling and the ability to apply simple graphics within a broadcast or streaming post-production workflow.
• A working knowledge of social media platforms and how content behavior differs across streaming and digital news contexts.
