Director, Legal, WBTV Unscripted

Warner Bros. Discovery is hiring a Director, Legal, WBTV Unscripted based out of their Burbank, California production offices. This role sits inside the Warner Bros. Television Unscripted Business and Legal Affairs team, where the work covers the full content lifecycle, from development deals through production and distribution agreements across broadcast, cable, streaming, and emerging media platforms. It is the right fit for a seasoned entertainment attorney who is comfortable operating independently in a high-volume unscripted television environment.

About the Role

The WBTV Unscripted legal team supports one of the busiest unscripted production slates in the industry, with programming that spans traditional broadcast and streaming platforms. Day to day, this person is negotiating and drafting agreements, advising creative and production teams on deal structure, and managing a wide range of transactional matters from concept through distribution. The position runs on a hybrid schedule with three days per week in office in Burbank.

Key Responsibilities

• Negotiate, draft, and analyze development, production, and distribution agreements for unscripted television programming across multiple platforms.
• Provide legal and business affairs counsel to creative executives and production teams throughout the content development and production process.
• Structure complex business arrangements with external partners, talent representatives, and production companies in the unscripted space.
• Advise on contractual risk across the full episodic television production lifecycle, from option agreements through delivery and exploitation.
• Manage a high volume of concurrent transactional matters while coordinating with internal business, creative, and legal stakeholders.
• Support distribution strategy by reviewing and negotiating terms across broadcast, cable, and streaming deal structures.

What You Bring

• A J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar.
• Substantial experience in entertainment law with a specific focus on unscripted or factual television production and development.
• Demonstrated track record negotiating production and distribution agreements within a studio, network, or streamer environment.
• Ability to work independently across a broad slate of unscripted content with minimal supervision.
• Strong working relationships with talent representatives and familiarity with how deals move through the unscripted development pipeline.
