About the Role

FOX 2 Detroit is part of a station group that produces roughly 1,300 hours of local news per week across 29 owned-and-operated stations, so the editorial standards and output expectations are genuine. This producer works across both linear broadcast and digital streaming workflows, developing segments and show concepts that serve on-demand audiences as well as traditional viewers. A typical day runs from story selection and rundown building through live broadcast production, with breaking news coverage folded in as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce all elements of daily newscasts including leads, teases, story stacks, and breakout segments from start to finish.
• Run the control room editorially during live broadcasts and breaking news situations, making real-time decisions on coverage and format.
• Mine social media for story sourcing and integrate verified information into broadcast and streaming news coverage.
• Pitch and produce digital-first content tailored to OTT and connected TV platforms, adapting linear broadcast material for on-demand audiences.
• Develop multi-platform show concepts that extend the station’s local news coverage across the FOX LOCAL streaming product and beyond.
• Apply audience flow data, ratings, and metered research strategically to shape show structure and editorial priorities.

What You Bring

• Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience as a TV newscast producer in a medium or major market, with credits that reflect full show ownership.
• Demonstrated editorial judgment and active decision-making under the pressure of live television production.
• Working knowledge of newsroom computer systems and standard TV production techniques used in local broadcast news.
• Strong writing skills specific to broadcast news format, including tease writing and live breaking news copy.
• Background in entertainment or talk programming is a plus, particularly for streaming content development.
• Four-year college degree preferred.
