Production Assistant

About the Role

This Production Assistant position is embedded in TMZ’s daily editorial and social media production workflow, one of the most recognized names in celebrity news television and digital content. A typical day splits between news desk support, logging incoming video and photo assets, and contributing to on-set production tasks as stories develop. The role requires early availability, with shifts starting as early as 5:30 AM on weekdays.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and assist the news desk in identifying and developing stories for broadcast and social media production.
• Log incoming video and photo assets with accurate, searchable descriptors that support the editorial team’s workflow.
• Produce and front short-form video content formatted for social platforms including TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
• Provide phone coverage and administrative support for executives during live news cycles.
• Assist with on-set production tasks across TMZ shoots, which may include field or studio environments.
• Identify trending stories and cultural moments relevant to Gen-Z audiences and bring them to the editorial table.

What You Bring

• A valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance are required for this role.
• Demonstrated experience creating content for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or similar social video platforms.
• Deep working knowledge of Gen-Z culture, sports, and the media landscape that surrounds both.
• Comfort on camera, with the ability to present and deliver material clearly in a television or digital production context.
• Availability to report by 5:30 AM on weekdays, consistent with live news and morning production schedules.
