Director, Legal, WBTV Unscripted

Warner Bros. Discovery is hiring a Director, Legal, WBTV Unscripted based in Burbank, California at the Production Offices on the studio lot. This role sits inside the Warner Bros. Television Unscripted Business and Legal Affairs team, where the work runs from deal structuring in early development all the way through distribution across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms. It is built for an experienced entertainment attorney who is comfortable owning complex transactional matters independently in a high-volume unscripted television environment.

About the Role

The Unscripted Legal team supports one of the industry’s most active producers of unscripted programming, covering a broad slate of projects across traditional and emerging media distribution models. Day to day, this means drafting and negotiating development, production, and distribution agreements while advising creative executives and production teams at every stage of the content lifecycle. The position follows a hybrid schedule with three days per week on the Burbank lot.

Key Responsibilities

• Negotiate and draft development, production, and distribution agreements for unscripted television projects across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.
• Provide deal-level legal counsel to creative executives and production teams from concept through delivery, identifying and addressing risk at each production phase.
• Structure and negotiate complex talent agreements with representatives across the unscripted programming slate.
• Advise internal business stakeholders on contractual obligations and rights across multiple distribution models, including emerging media platforms.
• Manage a high volume of concurrent transactional matters independently, coordinating with both internal legal teams and outside counsel as needed.
• Partner with business affairs colleagues to align legal strategy with creative and commercial priorities throughout the development and production process.

What You Bring

• Substantial experience as a practicing entertainment attorney with a focus on unscripted or episodic television production and distribution.
• Proven track record negotiating and drafting complex agreements in a studio, network, or streaming environment.
• Experience working directly with talent representatives and production companies across the unscripted content business.
• Strong working knowledge of rights, clearances, and deal structures specific to television production across multiple platforms.
• J.D. and active bar membership required.
