Job Position(s): Sound Designer & Music Composer
Project Type: Video Game
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Sunrock Games SL is hiring a freelance Sound Designer & Music Composer to work remotely on a new video game currently in preproduction. This role owns the full audio pipeline, from defining the sonic identity of the project through to delivering production-ready assets covering everything from gameplay feedback and ambient layers to original score. It suits an experienced audio professional who is equally comfortable behind a DAW composing adaptive music as they are building out a complete game audio pipeline from scratch.

About the Role

This is a solo audio position embedded across design, art, and programming teams, meaning the person stepping into this role defines the sound direction rather than executing someone else’s vision. The project is entering preproduction, so the Sound Designer & Music Composer will shape the audio identity from the ground up, iterating alongside the rest of the team as the game takes shape. Day to day, that means producing sound effects, composing and mixing original music, preparing and optimizing assets for engine integration, and flagging any technical audio requirements to the wider development team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the overall sonic identity and audio direction for the game in collaboration with design and production leads.
  • Design, record, and produce all sound effects including UI sounds, gameplay feedback, ambient layers, and transitional audio.
  • Compose, produce, mix, and master original music across all game states and scenes.
  • Prepare, label, and optimize all audio assets to meet engine specifications including format, sample rate, normalization, and loop points.
  • Build dynamic or adaptive audio systems that respond to player actions, game states, and in-game events where the design requires it.
  • Iterate on delivered work based on team feedback while maintaining a consistent sonic identity throughout the full production cycle.

What You Bring

  • Professional credits in game audio production covering both sound design and original composition.
  • Fluency in a professional DAW and working knowledge of audio formats, compression, and game audio optimization.
  • Experience integrating audio into Unity, including asset configuration and import pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with FMOD or Wwise and a working understanding of adaptive music systems.
  • The ability to work independently from briefs and references without close supervision.
  • A portfolio or demo reel demonstrating both sound design work and original music composition for games.

Why This Role

Sunrock Games SL brings experience in game development and publishing to this project, and the early-stage entry point here gives the right candidate real creative ownership, not just execution work. The engagement is fully remote with flexible scheduling, and the collaboration runs from preproduction through to final delivery. Compensation is paid on a freelance basis with no salary range specified in the listing.

Apply now for the Sound Designer & Music Composer role at Sunrock Games SL and bring this project’s audio world to life from the first sound to the final mix.
