Job Position(s): NEWS VIDEO EDITOR (P/T) - KPHO/KTVK
Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Gray Media is hiring a part-time News Video Editor at its Phoenix stations, KPHO and KTVK, home to CBS 5 and 3TV. This role sits inside the post and broadcast operations team, responsible for editing daily news packages, managing live video feeds, and delivering finished content across linear television, web, and social platforms. It’s a strong fit for an editor who knows broadcast news workflow from the inside and can move between a breaking story and a long-form feature without losing their footing.

About the Role

Arizona’s Family produces more than 100 hours of local news and programming each week, and this News Video Editor position supports that output across CBS 5, 3TV, and the station’s digital properties. Day to day, the work involves cutting packages for air, acquiring satellite and microwave feeds, and coordinating with control rooms and field crews to keep live broadcasts running cleanly. The role reports to the Chief News Editor and touches every layer of the station’s content management and archive systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit news packages, investigative segments, and special project content for broadcast television, digital platforms, and social distribution.
  • Acquire and route incoming video feeds from satellite, microwave, and backpack transmitters to support field crews going live.
  • Maintain content management and archive systems in coordination with the Chief News Editor to support daily news workflow.
  • Communicate in real time with control room staff and field crews to ensure live broadcast execution meets air-ready standards.
  • Optimize news video for social platforms, applying an understanding of format, pacing, and platform-specific delivery requirements.
  • Manage post-production workflow under deadline pressure across multiple concurrent news cycles without compromising output quality.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on experience with non-linear editing software inside a broadcast news or episodic television environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of video feed acquisition, including satellite, microwave, and cellular backpack systems.
  • A background editing for multiple distribution formats, including broadcast air, web publishing, and social media channels.
  • The ability to cut across content types, from a two-minute breaking news clip to a longer documentary or investigative piece.
  • Familiarity with newsroom content management systems and digital asset archiving processes.

Why This Role

Gray Media operates 117 television markets across the country, and KPHO/KTVK ranks among the most active local news operations in the Southwest, with original productions including docuseries, true crime podcasts, and live sports coverage for the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, and Phoenix Mercury. Editors here work across a genuinely broad content slate, not just daily news, which creates real range in a reel. For an editor building credits in local broadcast and digital news production, Phoenix is a high-volume, high-visibility market.

Apply now for the News Video Editor position at Gray Media in Phoenix and put your broadcast editing work in front of one of the largest local television operations in the country.
