Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

ILM Vancouver is collecting Expressions of Interest ahead of Spark Animation 2026 for crew across multiple departments and levels at their Vancouver, BC studio. This posting covers the full production pipeline, from animation and VFX to production management, and is designed to match candidates to open roles rather than recruit for a single position. It suits working professionals in the visual effects and animation industry who met with the ILM team at Spark and want to formalize their interest in joining the studio.

About the Role

Industrial Light and Magic’s Vancouver studio works across feature film and episodic VFX production, contributing to some of the most technically complex shots in the industry. Because this is an open Expression of Interest rather than a specific vacancy, applications are reviewed against openings across the VFX pipeline as they become available. A typical day at ILM varies significantly by department, but most crew are working within a structured production workflow that spans look development, animation, compositing, CG, and production management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to VFX pipeline work across one or more disciplines, including animation, compositing, lighting, or CG, depending on your area of expertise and available openings.
  • Collaborate with department supervisors to deliver shots that meet the technical and creative requirements of each production.
  • Track and manage your own work through ILM’s internal production management systems in line with show schedules.
  • Participate in dailies and shot reviews, incorporating feedback efficiently within established turnaround windows.
  • Maintain quality and consistency across assigned shots in a high-volume animation studio environment.
  • Support cross-department communication to ensure assets and deliverables move cleanly through the production pipeline.

What You Bring

  • Professional credits in visual effects, animation, or production management at a recognized film or television studio.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software relevant to your discipline, such as Maya, Nuke, Houdini, or similar tools.
  • Experience working within a structured VFX pipeline on feature film or episodic production.
  • Ability to work full time on-site or in a hybrid capacity from Vancouver, BC.
  • Strong organizational and shot-management skills that hold up under production deadlines.

Why This Role

ILM is one of the few VFX studios with a decades-long track record on major tentpole productions, and the Vancouver facility has become a significant part of that output. As this posting is an Expression of Interest and not for one specific position, there is no specific hiring range, but the studio is actively reviewing submissions across departments. Getting your application in through Spark Animation 2026 gives your profile a direct path to the hiring team reviewing open roles.

Apply now for the Spark Animation 2026 Expression of Interest at ILM Vancouver and put your work in front of Disney’s visual effects recruitment team.
