Job Type
Disney is hiring a Disney Live Entertainment Production Specialist Intern for Spring 2027, based in Anaheim, CA. This role sits within the Art Studio/Services and Scenic Fabrication team, where the work centers on developing scope, budgets, and production timelines for scenic elements across live show entertainment offerings at domestic theme parks and special event sites globally. It suits a theater or scenic production student who understands how a fabrication shop actually runs and can translate a designer’s concept into a workable production plan.
About the Role
The Disney Live Entertainment Production Specialist Intern works inside the scenic fabrication pipeline, acting as a point of contact between clients, designers, and shop leads across the full construction lifecycle. Projects range from intimate park entertainment to large-scale live theatrical production, with scope touching everything from original scenic builds to warehouse asset assessment and rehab. This is a full-time, six-month internship running January 2027 through June 2027, requiring approximately 40 hours per week including availability for overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret client and designer conceptual art, sketches, and written scopes to develop detailed production budgets and build timelines in consultation with fabrication shop leads.
- Assess existing warehouse inventory to identify scenic assets suitable for reuse, and determine what rehabilitation or modification each piece requires.
- Submit project estimates and deliverable schedules to clients and manage the approval process before production begins.
- Track active builds across multiple fabrication shops, updating scope of work and production timelines as conditions change.
- Keep clients informed throughout the entire construction or asset-pulling process, communicating status updates, delivery dates, and any scope changes in real time.
- Identify process improvement opportunities across scenic production workflow and bring forward resourceful solutions without waiting to be asked.
What You Bring
- Current enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student in Technical Theater, Scenic Fabrication, Theatrical Production, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple live production projects simultaneously against tight deadlines without losing quality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook, plus experience with collaboration and file-sharing tools used in live entertainment production environments.
- A valid US driver’s license and the ability to operate a company vehicle.
- Compliance with Disney Look appearance guidelines and the ability to secure your own housing in the Anaheim area for the duration of the internship.
Why This Role
Disney Live Entertainment produces theatrical production work seen across theme parks, resort hotels, and cruise ships internationally, giving interns direct exposure to a live entertainment production pipeline that operates at a scale very few organizations run. The Disney Live Entertainment Production Specialist Intern position offers hands-on scenic fabrication experience working alongside senior designers and shop leads on real deliverables, not shadow assignments. For students targeting careers in live theatrical production or entertainment production management, this is a substantive credit.
