It is a role for someone who has spent real time inside large animation or VFX studios and understands how crew moves from training into production-ready work.
About the Role
The Manager, Emerging Talent owns the full arc of new talent development at DNEG Animation in India, from university outreach through structured training programs like Greenlight, which provides intensive entry-level preparation for freshers entering the feature animation pipeline. Day to day, this person manages relationships with Indian academies, coordinates with Heads of Department to understand crew needs, and runs the logistics and curriculum behind programs that bring new artists into the studio. It is a role that requires someone equally comfortable presenting a program update to senior leadership and sitting in a training session working through feedback with trainees.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with Indian animation and VFX academies to source candidates for the Greenlight training program and departmental pipelines.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of emerging talent programs including Greenlight and Top Gun, an elite training track for experienced animators, from recruitment through departmental placement.
- Coordinate with Heads of Department, Resource Management, and Talent Acquisition to align training output with actual production workforce needs.
- Partner with the Head of Outreach in the west to develop and implement an ambassador program across India.
- Facilitate training sessions directly, both in person and via Zoom, at a level appropriate for studio leadership audiences.
- Manage internship and in-studio programs that run alongside the main training tracks to support broader emerging talent development.
What You Bring
- At least five years of experience working inside large VFX or feature animation studios, with direct involvement in training or talent development.
- A working understanding of how VFX pipeline and animation production departments are structured and how crew is onboarded into them.
- Proficiency with GSuite including Docs, Spreadsheets, and Slides for program documentation and reporting.
- Strong project management and written communication skills, with experience handling multiple concurrent programs under production timelines.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field, with event management experience considered a genuine advantage.
Why This Role
DNEG is one of the most recognized names in feature animation and visual effects production globally, with a growing studio presence in India that is central to its long-term production strategy. The Manager, Emerging Talent role sits at the intersection of that growth, with direct influence over who enters the animation studio pipeline and how they are prepared for production work.
