Job Position(s): VFX Producer
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Industrial Light & Magic is hiring a VFX Producer for its Sydney studio, based in Moore Park, NSW. This role sits at the centre of VFX production and animation delivery, managing the full project lifecycle from initial bid through to final client handoff across major film and television productions. It suits a senior producer who has come up through the VFX pipeline and knows how to hold a show together across multiple global facilities simultaneously.

About the Role

The VFX Producer works within ILM Sydney’s production department, overseeing projects that draw on the studio’s international network spanning San Francisco, Singapore, Vancouver, and London. Day-to-day, that means managing show budgets and schedules, running client communications on non-creative matters, staffing productions in partnership with local talent managers, and participating in capacity planning meetings that shape the broader portfolio. This is a producing role with real P&L ownership, not a coordinator position with a senior title.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the bidding process for new projects, preparing bid letters, key date schedules, and assumption documents in close coordination with the Executive Producer.
  • Serve as the primary Sydney client contact during production, delivering budget and schedule updates and managing any scope changes as they arise.
  • Maintain full P&L accountability for assigned shows, partnering with production accounting to keep financial reporting accurate across the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with Hub and Spoke producers across ILM’s global studios to establish turnover requirements and communication frameworks for each project.
  • Staff productions effectively alongside ILM Sydney’s talent managers, and provide timely performance feedback to artists and production staff throughout the show.
  • Represent Sydney’s capacity and scheduling position in bi-weekly tactical and portfolio meetings, advising on resource solutions when complexity or volume shifts.

What You Bring

  • 10 or more years of hands-on VFX production experience, with at least 6 years producing major productions at a recognised visual effects facility.
  • A proven track record in bidding and client management across feature film production or high-end episodic television.
  • Fluency with production management tools including Shotgun, FileMaker Pro, and MS Project, alongside strong command of Excel and Google Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-studio workflows and multi-facility VFX pipelines without losing control of budget or delivery timelines.
  • Strong leadership under pressure, with a track record of resolving production issues while keeping crew and client relationships intact.

Why This Role

Industrial Light & Magic carries one of the most recognised production histories in the visual effects industry, and the Sydney studio is an active contributor to that slate, not a satellite outpost. For a producer with serious feature film production or animation studio credits, this is a role with genuine scope, global collaboration, and the infrastructure to support ambitious work.

Apply now for the VFX Producer position at Industrial Light & Magic and bring your production experience to one of the industry’s most established VFX studios.
