Job Position(s): Games Audio Production Intern, Spring 2027
Project Type: Video Game
Job Date: Internship
Compensation: Paid Internship

Disney is hiring a Games Audio Production Intern for their Glendale, CA offices, starting January 2027. This role sits within the games audio production pipeline, supporting music, voice-over, and sound design workflows across licensed interactive titles built on Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century franchises. It suits a junior or senior undergraduate with a grounding in audio production who wants hands-on exposure to game audio at the studio level.

About the Role

The intern works directly alongside an Audio Manager, Sound Supervisor, and Producers to move audio assets through the review and approval process for interactive projects. On any given day, that means tracking VO script deliveries, attending voice-over sessions, playing game builds to evaluate music and sound design, and capturing notes in milestone and functional meetings. This is a coordination-heavy role inside a real game audio production workflow, not a shadowing program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the audio approval process for interactive projects, routing technical and creative feedback to external development partners on schedule.
  • Organize and track audio asset deliveries across VO scripts, VO recordings, music mockups, final music recordings, video game soundtracks, and sound effects.
  • Attend voice-over sessions for Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Games titles and contribute to session documentation.
  • Play game development builds to evaluate music, sound design, and voice-over against brand and quality standards.
  • Capture meeting notes and follow-up items during audio reviews and maintain asset trackers using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Support archiving of audio reference materials, brand guidelines, and master audio assets across the interactive portfolio.

What You Bring

  • Current enrollment as a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Sound Design, Game Design, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of voice-over, music, and sound design production workflows at any level of the audio pipeline.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for managing asset trackers and feedback documents.
  • Familiarity with audio database tools such as SoundMiner or Basecamp, project management platforms like Jira or Airtable, and DAWs or audio middleware such as Wwise or FMOD is preferred.
  • Genuine familiarity with Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century franchises and their established soundscapes.
  • Unrestricted US work authorization and at least 18 years of age, as required by the program.

Why This Role

Disney’s games audio team works across one of the broadest licensed interactive portfolios in the industry, giving this intern exposure to multiple franchise soundscapes and real game audio production workflow in a single placement. The Games Audio Production Intern position runs January 25 through June 6, 2027, with core in-office hours Monday through Thursday and remote Fridays, based in Glendale, CA. The pay rate is $23.00 per hour, with select benefits potentially included depending on position level.
