About the Role

The Junior Short-Form Video Editor works independently within a remote post-production workflow, receiving footage from Marked JnF and delivering finished cuts without any on-set or filming requirements. Projects are ongoing and part-time, with monthly work that fits around a college or university schedule. A typical week involves pulling selects from longer recordings, building tight 30 to 90-second cuts, and formatting deliverables for multiple social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Cut longer source recordings down to 30 to 90-second vertical videos, identifying the moments with the strongest informational or entertainment value.
• Craft opening hooks in the first few seconds of each cut to maximize viewer retention across short-form platforms.
• Remove dead air, pauses, and redundant footage to maintain pacing consistent with current short-form editing styles.
• Integrate captions, licensed music, sound effects, and B-roll to support the visual narrative of each piece.
• Perform basic colour correction, audio cleanup, and exposure adjustments to bring footage up to a consistent delivery standard.
• Export and format finished videos to platform specifications for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

What You Bring

• Proficiency in CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve, with examples of completed short-form edits to share.
• A working understanding of current short-form content trends and what performs on vertical video platforms.
• Enrollment or recent graduation from a media production, film, or communications program is an asset, though not required.
• Ability to take notes, apply revisions cleanly, and turn around deliverables on an agreed schedule.
• Availability to commit to consistent monthly output with flexible hours.
