Village Staff Limited
Village Staff Limited is hiring a Videographer based in GB to lead video production for a local council’s in-house media unit. This role sits at the centre of a council-run videography operation, responsible for end-to-end video production workflow from pre-production planning and location selection through to editing and multi-platform delivery. It suits a working videographer with a commercial mindset who is equally comfortable behind a camera and managing a client brief.
About the Role
The Videographer operates within the council’s Communications team, producing content for a range of internal departments and external clients across social media, web, and intranet platforms. A typical day might move between shooting a client commission, editing a finished piece to brand spec, and quoting fees for an incoming project brief. The role carries full ownership of the production pipeline, from initial pitch to delivery and financial sign-off.
Key Responsibilities
- Film and edit video productions across multiple formats, delivering to brief for both internal council departments and external commissioning clients.
- Pitch for incoming projects and new business opportunities, presenting production proposals that meet income targets set by the council.
- Select appropriate filming locations, settings, and video formats suited to each brief, applying sound editorial and technical judgment throughout pre-production.
- Manage the full post-production workflow to ensure output meets the council’s branding guidelines and Communications strategy across all distribution channels.
- Quote, invoice, and maintain financial records for each project, keeping income ledgers current and reporting on production statistics as required.
- Research new editing techniques and production best practice to keep the unit’s output current and its service delivery efficient.
What You Bring
- Demonstrable experience in professional video production, including filming and editing credits across corporate, public sector, or commercial content.
- Proficiency in industry-standard editing software used in professional post-production workflow.
- Experience managing video projects independently from brief through to multi-platform delivery.
- Ability to produce accurate production quotes and handle project-level financial administration.
- Working knowledge of GDPR, data handling obligations, and health and safety requirements relevant to production environments.
Why This Role
Village Staff Limited is placing a Videographer into a council unit that operates as a genuine production service, generating income through competitive client commissions rather than functioning as a purely internal resource. The role offers consistent project variety and a degree of commercial autonomy that is uncommon in public sector video production. Village Staff Limited works with established local authority clients, giving the right candidate a stable production base with real scope to grow the unit’s output.
Apply now for the Videographer position with Village Staff Limited and take ownership of a production unit with a real commercial remit.
