Zoic Studios is collecting expressions of interest for a BC, 2D Senior Compositor based remotely in Vancouver, British Columbia. This role sits within the compositing department and is focused on shot finishing for episodic streaming productions, integrating CG elements, mattes, and multi-pass renders into live action plates using Nuke. It suits a compositor who has moved through the ranks on medium to large scale productions and is comfortable owning shots from initial breakdown through to client delivery.

About the Role

This is not a currently open position. Zoic Studios is building a pipeline of qualified compositors for future contract work at their Vancouver location, and applicants must reside in British Columbia to be considered. Day to day, the role involves working within a structured VFX pipeline on episodic television, taking shots through dailies, addressing supervisor and client notes, and delivering finals against tight turnarounds across multiple streaming service projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate CG passes, practical elements, and matte paintings into live action footage across a range of shot complexity levels within the production pipeline.
• Perform 2D tracking, matte extraction, 2.5D camera projection, and Nuke 3D workflow tasks to achieve photorealistic composites.
• Maintain color balance, look consistency, and script organization across assigned shots and sequences throughout the post-production workflow.
• Address internal and client notes received through dailies, iterating efficiently within the hours allocated per shot.
• Coordinate with VFX and Compositing Supervisors to ensure deliveries meet both internal and external deadlines.
• Apply working knowledge of EXR integration, rig removal, and 3D multi-pass rendering techniques to moderately difficult through hero-level shots.

What You Bring

• Expert-level proficiency in Nuke, with a track record on episodic television or streaming productions.
• Solid understanding of color space concepts, CG integration, and multi-pass rendering within a structured VFX pipeline.
• Experience with projection, matte painting integration, and Nuke 3D workflow in a production context.
• Working knowledge of Maya, Houdini, or Unreal is considered an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to take clear artistic direction and ask the right questions early.
