Media Producer (Videographer)

AlgaeCal is hiring a Media Producer (Videographer) based out of Vancouver, BC. This is a single-operator production role sitting at the intersection of branded content and direct-response video, responsible for end-to-end output from field production through colour grade and delivery. It suits a self-directed videographer with a strong commercial production background who understands how footage choices connect to conversion outcomes.

About the Role

The Media Producer (Videographer) works within AlgaeCal’s in-house content team, producing documentary-style customer stories, product-focused video, and photo assets that feed directly into the company’s e-commerce and marketing pipeline. A typical week moves between planning shoots, managing equipment and vendor logistics, and working through post-production in DaVinci Resolve. Periodic travel across North America, roughly once every two months, is part of the workflow for location-based documentary shoots at customer homes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead field and studio video production shoots, operating cinema-grade cameras including the Sony FX3, Sony FX9, BlackMagic Cinema Cameras, and RED systems with full command of camera movement, framing, and exposure.
• Design and execute lighting setups using Aputure, Arri, and Lightgear rigs across product photography, live-action branded content, and documentary-style production.
• Manage the full post-production workflow including colour grading, sound design, and finishing inside DaVinci Resolve, with additional work in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator as needed.
• Integrate AI video tools such as Veo, Higgsfield, and Adobe Firefly into the production pipeline to extend plates, upscale footage, and accelerate post without compromising output quality.
• Serve as the production coordinator between stakeholders and the content team, keeping schedules, equipment inventories, budgets, and revision feedback organised and on track.
• Analyse performance metrics and user testing data to inform future content decisions and refine video and photographic assets on an ongoing basis.

What You Bring

• Three to five or more years of dedicated video production experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates commercial or e-commerce content production.
• Hands-on fluency with professional cinema camera systems, lighting packages, and field audio capture.
• Expert-level colour grading and sound design skills in DaVinci Resolve, supported by working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted generative video workflows and familiarity with tools in that space.
• A working understanding of marketing psychology as it applies to direct-response video content and branded storytelling.
