Executive Producer

FOX Entertainment is hiring an Executive Producer to lead the newsroom at its broadcast television station in Southfield, Michigan. This role owns the editorial direction, daily output, and multi-platform strategy for local news programming across both linear broadcast and digital streaming. It suits a senior news professional who has run a newsroom before and knows how to balance breaking coverage with the longer-term work of building a team and a content operation.

About the Role

The Executive Producer sits at the center of a newsroom that produces local news content for one of FOX Television Stations’ 29 owned-and-operated stations, part of a group that collectively generates approximately 1,200 hours of local news per week. Day to day, this means overseeing producers, reporters, and digital content creators while managing show rundowns, copyediting scripts, and coordinating coverage across episodic television news formats and streaming platforms. The role reports into the News Director and carries real authority over staffing, editorial standards, and programming decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the daily editorial operations of the newsroom, including staff scheduling, assignment coverage, and ensuring on-time delivery of broadcast news content across multiple shows.
• Copyedit scripts and rundowns for several daily broadcasts, maintaining accuracy and editorial standards consistent with FOX Entertainment’s station guidelines.
• Lead the digital stream team alongside the linear broadcast team, developing content specifically formatted for streaming platforms.
• Analyze ratings data and audience feedback to make informed decisions about coverage priorities and programming direction.
• Develop and implement newsroom policies and production workflows in coordination with the News Director and department managers.
• Represent the station at community events and public forums, supporting the station’s local presence and editorial credibility.

What You Bring

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in broadcast news production, with demonstrated experience managing a newsroom team.
• Strong writing and copyediting skills across broadcast news formats, with a clear understanding of what works across both linear and digital platforms.
• Proficiency in newsroom management software and social media platforms used in local broadcast news workflows.
• A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• Proven ability to coach and develop producers and reporters in a deadline-driven broadcast environment.
