Disney is hiring a Senior Producer, National Geographic Production Services to join the National Geographic team in Washington, DC. This role sits within the Production Services department and is responsible for taking greenlit projects from pre-production through final delivery across streaming, digital, and linear platforms, with a focus on kids, travel, science, and natural history content. About the Role

The Production Services team at National Geographic works across short and long-form content, drawing heavily on the brand’s extensive archive alongside new shoots to build programming for multiple platforms. On any given day, this Senior Producer might be cutting a script for a natural history short, managing a narration record, reviewing a rough cut, or working with AI-enabled tools to mine archival collections for usable story beats and metadata. It is a full-stack producing role that touches every stage of the nonfiction production workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage greenlit projects across kids, travel, science, and natural history genres from pre-production through post-production, including scripting, field production, narration, audio mixes, and technical delivery.
  • Transform archival footage, photography, and historical assets into original long-form and short-form content for National Geographic’s streaming and linear platforms.
  • Work with AI-assisted tools to improve archival discovery, metadata enrichment, asset organization, and identification of key narrative moments within existing content libraries.
  • Build and manage production and post-production schedules, keeping assigned shows on budget and on time while maintaining brand and editorial standards.
  • Identify and coordinate subject matter experts, on-camera talent, narrators, composers, and recording studios to support each project’s creative needs.
  • Mentor internal producing teams on best practices in archival storytelling, production management, and AI-assisted post-production workflow.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of seven years producing nonfiction content for a network or production company, with credits spanning documentary, natural history, or science programming.
  • Demonstrated experience managing production budgets and coordinating crews across field production and episodic television or series formats.
  • Familiarity with editing systems and production databases, plus working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong editorial instincts for long-form documentary and short-form digital content, with the ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in nonfiction production.
