Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $150,000 - $170,000/year

Lionsgate is hiring a Director, Creative AI & Production Technology based in Santa Monica, CA to lead the practical integration of AI across the studio’s content creation, VFX, and post-production workflows. This role sits inside the AI office and is directly responsible for turning generative AI tools into production-ready pipelines used by filmmakers, VFX supervisors, editors, and post teams across Lionsgate’s feature film and television slate. It suits a creative technologist who has actually worked inside production or post-production environments and knows the difference between a promising demo and something that survives contact with a real show.

About the Role

The Director, Creative AI & Production Technology operates at the crossroads of the AI office and the production floor, partnering with creative and technical leadership to move AI pilots from early experimentation into repeatable post-production workflow and VFX pipeline patterns. Day-to-day work involves evaluating multimodal tools across image, video, audio, and language models, running context-specific tests with artists and editors, and coordinating with Legal, Security, and Business Affairs to get solutions across the finish line. This person also manages one direct report and serves as the primary creative-production counterpart to the VP of AI Solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and maintain the creative AI roadmap across development, previs, virtual production, VFX, editorial, and post-production workflows for Lionsgate’s feature film and episodic television productions.
  • Identify and lead AI pilots that address specific production pain points, evaluating each against artistic quality, workflow fit, rights considerations, and readiness for real-world use.
  • Design artist-facing tools and multimodal workflows that support ideation, visualization, asset development, and editorial processes in collaboration with VFX supervisors and post-production teams.
  • Build scalable pipeline patterns for AI-assisted creative work, including documentation, quality controls, metadata, provenance standards, and handoff protocols between creative and technical teams.
  • Evaluate startups, vendors, and emerging production practices across the creative AI ecosystem and cultivate strategic relationships that extend the studio’s capabilities.
  • Represent the AI office in senior creative and production forums, translating technical capabilities and limitations into clear guidance that supports confident decisions by filmmakers and executives.

What You Bring

  • Eight or more years working in film, television, VFX, animation, virtual production, or post-production, with hands-on experience shaping technology-enabled workflows for creative teams.
  • Deep practical fluency with generative AI and multimodal tools across image, video, audio, and language models, including an honest read on their creative quality and production limitations.
  • Working knowledge of production and post-production pipeline mechanics, including asset management, editorial, vendor handoffs, review and approval processes, and delivery requirements.
  • A track record of moving emerging technology from pilot into production-ready workflow, including the cross-functional coordination that process requires.
  • Experience managing or mentoring creative technology professionals, with the ability to set clear priorities and create meaningful growth opportunities.

Why This Role

Lionsgate carries one of the more active production slates among mid-major studios, with feature film and episodic television projects running across genres, which gives this role real material to work with rather than theoretical use cases. The Director, Creative AI & Production Technology position is genuinely early in its formation at the studio, meaning the person who takes it will shape the standards and partnerships that define how AI enters Lionsgate’s creative pipeline for years ahead. That kind of foundational scope is uncommon at a studio with this level of production volume.

If you are ready to define what responsible AI integration looks like inside a working studio, apply for the Director, Creative AI & Production Technology role at Lionsgate today.
