Job Position(s): Head of Physical Production
Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Lionsgate is hiring a Head of Physical Production for its Canadian television operations, based in Toronto, ON. This role owns the full production lifecycle across Lionsgate Canada’s scripted TV slate, from budget and schedule approvals in pre-production through post-production workflow and final delivery. It suits a senior production executive with a background as a Line Producer or Production Executive who has managed multiple concurrent episodic television productions and knows how to operate inside a studio structure.

About the Role

This is a one-year contract position sitting at the top of the physical production department for Lionsgate Canada, with oversight across a diverse slate of scripted television projects spanning comedy, drama, and premium content for multiple networks and platforms. Day-to-day, the role moves between budget reviews, cost report analysis, crew hiring decisions, and coordination with post-production, finance, and business affairs teams. The person in this seat is the main point of contact for production companies, broadcasters, and external partners on everything from tax incentive strategy to delivery compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and approve production budgets, cash flows, and hot cost tracking across all active episodic television productions on the slate.
  • Oversee recruitment and onboarding of key department heads, line producers, and production executives for each project.
  • Partner with production accounting and finance to monitor expenditures, flag risks early, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising the production.
  • Evaluate locations and work with finance teams to identify and secure Canadian and international tax incentives and co-production funding structures.
  • Negotiate production agreements and manage vendor relationships across multiple concurrent productions.
  • Ensure all productions meet health and safety standards, insurance requirements, and labour obligations under IATSE, DGC, WGC, Teamsters, and SAG-AFTRA agreements.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive physical production experience in film or television, with credits as a Line Producer, Production Supervisor, or Production Executive.
  • Demonstrated track record delivering scripted television productions, including comedy, drama, and premium content, on time and on budget.
  • Deep knowledge of production budgeting, scheduling, cost reporting, and post-production delivery workflows.
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian tax incentives, co-productions, and international financing structures.
  • Hands-on experience with major guild and union agreements including IATSE, DGC, DGA, WGC, WGA, Teamsters, and SAG-AFTRA.

Why This Role

Lionsgate operates one of the more active scripted television pipelines in Canada, which means the Head of Physical Production here is managing real volume across a genuine slate rather than a single production in isolation. The role carries meaningful authority over budget approvals, crew hiring, and production strategy at the studio level. For a senior production executive looking to operate at the top of the department inside an established studio structure, this is a substantive position.

Apply now for the Head of Physical Production role at Lionsgate and bring your production leadership experience to one of Canada’s most active television slates.
