Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Penske Media Corporation is hiring a Video Editor for Variety in Los Angeles, CA. This role sits inside Variety’s video department, where the output ranges from long-form editorial interviews to vertical social cuts and event packages built around entertainment industry coverage. It’s the right fit for a post-production editor who understands story structure in non-scripted formats and can move between polished series work and quick-turn deadline edits without losing either.

About the Role

The Video Editor works directly under Variety’s Head of Video, contributing to ongoing editorial series including Know Their Lines and Directors on Directors, as well as converting junket footage into finished editorial pieces. A typical day in this post-production workflow involves shaping interview arcs, managing multiple timelines across formats, and coordinating with external freelancers to keep projects on schedule. The role is onsite four days a week at the Los Angeles office, with one remote day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit episodes of Variety’s ongoing interview and editorial series, building emotional story arcs from raw interview footage rather than simply assembling cuts.
  • Produce format variations from the same source material, including long-form editorial pieces, vertical social cuts, and event packages.
  • Manage concurrent project timelines across multiple series, meeting editorial deadlines without compromising cut quality.
  • Coordinate with external freelance editors, assigning work and maintaining consistency in editorial tone and brand standards across deliverables.
  • Maintain the department’s internal archiving systems, ensuring all projects are properly backed up, labeled, and retrievable across the post-production pipeline.
  • Work closely with the Head of Video to align each piece with Variety’s established visual and editorial voice across all video output.

What You Bring

  • Expert-level command of Adobe Premiere Pro and the broader Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience editing interview-driven or non-scripted editorial content, with strong instincts for pacing and narrative arc.
  • A track record of delivering across multiple formats, from episodic television style long-form edits to short-form social content.
  • Experience scoping and managing freelance editorial contributors within a project timeline.
  • Organized archival practices and familiarity with post-production asset management.

Why This Role

Variety carries decades of credibility as the entertainment industry’s primary trade publication, and its video department is building a body of work that sits alongside that editorial reputation. The benefits package includes PMC-paid healthcare, a 401(k) with employer match, paid parental leave, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and an employee assistance program. For an editor looking to build a real body of work inside entertainment journalism, this Video Editor position offers consistent series credits and direct access to major industry talent.

Apply now for the Video Editor role at Penske Media Corporation and bring your post-production editorial instincts to one of the most recognized names in entertainment media.
