As Production Assistant, you are embedded in the daily production cycle alongside segment producers and anchors, contributing to every show from prep through broadcast. The work is deadline-driven and output-heavy, with multiple deliverables due before each live broadcast news production window.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cut video packages and SOTs at varying levels of editorial complexity to meet daily air deadlines.
  • Create topical graphics timed to specific news segments as stories develop throughout the broadcast day.
  • Compile research on topics scheduled for discussion, ensuring producers have sourced, accurate background material.
  • Support anchors Dagen McDowell and Brian Brenberg with pre-show preparation, including rundown materials and segment notes.
  • Assist segment producers in gathering all necessary elements, including tape, graphics, and lower thirds, before airtime.
  • Monitor the news cycle continuously and flag relevant developments that may affect the show’s editorial direction.

What You Bring

  • Prior experience in television production or a comparable live news environment.
  • Working knowledge of video editing tools used in broadcast news post-production workflows.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business news, politics, and current events at a level that keeps pace with a daily financial news program.
  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field, or equivalent production experience.
  • The ability to shift priorities quickly when breaking news changes the show’s lineup without warning.
