About the Role

We are seeking NYC-based Costume Character Performers to join our roster for ongoing event and promotional work supporting major film and entertainment studio clients. This is a gig-based, as-needed position ideal for performers, actors, and individuals with flexible schedules.

Selected applicants will be added to our talent roster and contacted for paid appearance opportunities as they arise.

Proven Agency is a modern entertainment strategy partner that integrates publicity, influencer collaborations, and events from the ground up. We work alongside studios, streaming platforms, and storytellers to connect entertainment with culture. From early campaign strategy through launch, our team creates impactful moments that captivate and engage audiences.

Location: New York City (Applicants must be based in one of the 5 boroughs for easy commute to Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens)

Compensation: Most actor/performer gigs are $100/hour (4-hour minimum per booking) *client dependent

Key Responsibilities

• Perform in full-body character costumes at events, activations, and content shoots
• Participate in meet-and-greets, roaming appearances, and photo/video opportunities
• Engage with the public in a professional, energetic, and brand-appropriate manner
• Follow direction from on-site handlers and event staff at all times

Types of Appearances

• Social media/photo opportunities
• Promotional events and brand activations
• Meet-and-greets and live event appearances
• Costume Examples – Minions, Trolls, Gabby’s Dollhouse, etc.

Clients include major film and entertainment studios.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be based in NYC (5 boroughs preferred)
• Ability to remain in costume for at least 30 minutes at a time (breaks provided in accordance with labor guidelines)
• Comfortable performing in enclosed or full-body costumes with limited visibility and ventilation
• Must be punctual, reliable, and professional
• Comfortable working closely with handlers of any gender
• Must arrive on-site in appropriate base attire (athletic wear, comfortable shoes, etc., depending on costume requirements)

Physical Requirements

• Most costumes fit performers between 5’0” – 5’4”
• Some costumes fit up to 5’6”
• Ability to move comfortably and safely while in costume

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a costume character performer, mascot, brand ambassador, or actor
• Background in theater, performance, live events, or experiential marketing
• Strong non-verbal communication and physical acting skills

Additional Information / Disclaimer

• This is a freelance, gig-based contractor role (not full-time employment)
• No benefits are provided
• Talent will be paid via Zelle or PayPal and must submit a W9 form prior to payment
• Applicants who meet initial requirements will be contacted for a brief phone screening prior to being added to the roster
• Being added to the roster does not guarantee a minimum number of bookings
• Work is offered on an as-needed, per-project basis
• Note: Most bookings are quick turnaround, within days to 1 month of appearance date
