Disney is hiring a Supervising Video Editor at ESPN Creative Studio in Bristol, CT. This role sits inside ESPN’s Content division, where the editorial team is responsible for producing and delivering finished video content across domestic and international sports broadcasting platforms. About the Role
ESPN Creative Studio brings together editorial, motion graphics, sound design, and production enhancements under one roof, functioning as the internal post-production workflow engine for one of the most widely distributed sports media brands in the world. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of video editors, assigning work, reviewing cuts, and providing structured editorial feedback tied to specific project and platform requirements.
- Manage scheduling, shift coverage, and resource planning in coordination with production and operations teams to keep episodic and live sports content on schedule.
- Drive performance management for direct reports, including coaching, mentorship, and formal evaluations within ESPN’s HR framework.
- Provide significant input on hiring, promotions, and separations within the editorial department.
- Oversee non-linear editing workflows and ensure the team is trained and current on evolving post-production tools and departmental standards.
- Edit independently across a range of formats and platforms, from short-form sports content to long-form production, maintaining the same output standard expected of the staff you supervise.
What You Bring
- A minimum of 9 years of non-linear editing experience across professional broadcast or post-production environments.
- A demonstrated track record of mentoring and training creative staff in an editorial or post-production context.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to give clear feedback under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with standard production office tools including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, with flexibility to shift schedules based on project demands.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
