Job Position(s): Production Assistant (Project Based)
Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Paramount is hiring a Production Assistant for Entertainment Tonight, based in Studio City, CA. This is a news desk role inside the country’s top entertainment news program, where the work centers on media management, asset coordination, and giving producers exactly what they need to write and build stories. It suits someone early in their television production career who knows pop culture cold and wants to learn the editorial side of broadcast from the inside out.

About the Role

This Production Assistant position sits within the ET news desk at CBS Media Ventures, Paramount’s syndication division, which also produces and distributes titles including Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, and The Drew Barrymore Show. Day to day, the work lives inside the media management and post-production workflow: ingesting footage, building organized folders, pulling archival assets, and making sure producers have everything they need before they sit down to write. The best people in this role treat that work editorially, spotting the clip or sound bite that changes a story, not just filing it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ingest shoot footage and build labeled, organized asset folders that segment producers can write directly from, following the show’s media management standards.
  • Transcribe celebrity interviews and field shoots accurately and on deadline, producing clean transcripts that feed directly into the editorial process.
  • Pull b-roll, archival clips, photos, and social content to support producers across broadcast, digital, and social platforms, tracking rights and credits throughout.
  • Assemble daily photo documents for rundown meetings, gathering paparazzi and social images that support editorial planning for that day’s show.
  • Provide field and studio support during shoots, including crew assistance and on-the-ground coordination when productions need an extra set of hands.
  • Cover cross-department needs as the show requires, pitching in on research, fact-checking, and content prep across the episodic television production cycle.

What You Bring

  • Genuine, deep familiarity with pop culture, enough to identify celebrity faces quickly and understand the news value of what you are looking at in a folder.
  • Experience with media ingest, asset logging, and basic post-production workflow, whether from a formal role, internship, or hands-on production work.
  • A degree or internship in television, film, or a related field is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Strong accuracy and organization under deadline pressure, with clear communication across teams.
  • Candidates must pass a short celebrity knowledge quiz as part of the hiring process.

Why This Role

Entertainment Tonight is the top-rated entertainment news program in syndication, and this Production Assistant role puts you inside its daily production operation at Paramount’s Studio City facilities. The hiring salary for this position is $20.00 per hour, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability coverage, tuition assistance, and PTO. For someone starting out in broadcast television production, the exposure to a high-volume, high-profile daily show is hard to match at this level.

Apply now for the Production Assistant role at Paramount and bring your editorial instincts to one of television’s most recognized news brands.
