Job Date: Per Project
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Disney is hiring a Casting Associate at Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, CA. This role sits within the studio’s casting department and covers both production dialogue and reference dialogue casting across animated feature film projects from development through final production. It’s the right fit for someone with a grounded background in voice casting who knows how to manage talent relationships and move quickly across multiple productions at once.

About the Role

The casting team at Walt Disney Animation Studios handles everything from early development casting sessions to the temporary voice work that keeps a production moving before principal talent is locked. As a Casting Associate, you’ll work directly alongside the Casting Director, supporting the full pipeline of an animated feature film from character conception to final recording. A typical day involves pulling audio references, fielding agency submissions, and sitting in on sessions with directors and producers to shape casting direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with directors and producers to brainstorm and present voice talent ideas for both main and secondary characters across active animation studio productions.
  • Source and compile audio clips for director and producer review to support casting discussions at all stages of development.
  • Work with talent representatives at local and national agencies to identify candidates and coordinate auditions for production dialogue.
  • Evaluate actor submissions from talent agencies and track options against the creative needs of each project.
  • Run auditions for reference dialogue casting, handling both internal candidates and external talent, including all booking and scheduling logistics.
  • Scout talent by attending theater performances, showcases, comedy shows, and concerts to build a working knowledge of emerging voice performers.

What You Bring

  • At least 5 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 2 years working specifically in casting.
  • Hands-on experience scheduling and running auditions, ideally within an animation studio or feature film production environment.
  • Established relationships with talent agents at local and national agencies.
  • Strong written communication skills, including professional email correspondence with executives and filmmakers.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in casting or a related field.

Why This Role

Walt Disney Animation Studios has one of the most consistent feature film slates in the industry, which means the casting work here is ongoing and consequential rather than project-to-project. The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $65,600.00 to $84,800.00 per year based on a 40-hour work week, with a bonus and long-term incentive units potentially included as part of the full compensation package.
