About the Role

The Superviseur.e de composition d’images works directly alongside VFX and CG supervisors, production, and art direction to ensure that the compositing team’s output holds together visually from first internal review through final delivery. Day to day, this means running dailies, validating scripts and render outputs, mentoring artists across a range of shot complexity, and keeping the VFX pipeline moving without technical debt accumulating. The role covers both feature film production and episodic television work depending on Rodeo FX’s active project slate.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate the project’s artistic direction into concrete, actionable compositing directives for the 2D team, then hold that standard through daily reviews and internal version checks.
• Validate script compliance, render optimization, and deliverable cleanliness in line with the Rodeo FX post-production workflow and technical pipeline requirements.
• Partner with VFX and CG supervisors to resolve complex visual challenges and maintain consistency across departments and sequences.
• Lead shot continuity monitoring, contribute to the creation and documentation of compositing tools and templates, and identify opportunities for automation or pipeline improvement.
• Manage artist casting for shots, participate in scheduling and estimating with production, track shot progress, and flag risks before they become delays.
• Support team development by identifying training needs, delivering clear feedback in briefs and one-on-ones, and contributing to performance evaluations and talent identification.

What You Bring

• Several years of compositing experience in a VFX studio environment, with a demonstrable track record on feature film or episodic television projects.
• Proven ability to lead a compositing team through full shot production cycles, from kickoff through client delivery.
• Deep working knowledge of Nuke and familiarity with the tools and pipeline structures common to mid-to-large VFX facilities.
• Strong technical grounding in render passes, colour pipeline, and shot integration within a multi-department VFX workflow.
• Clear communication skills in French and English to operate effectively across departments in a Montreal-based production environment.
