Compensation: Paid - Salary

FOX Entertainment is hiring a Production Trainee at its broadcast television station in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a floor-level role in live broadcast production, where you will work directly on local news and pre-taped programming, operating studio equipment and supporting on-air talent through each show. It suits a recent graduate looking to break into broadcast television production with real hands-on credits rather than classroom simulations.

About the Role

This Production Trainee position sits within the station’s production department, contributing to the roughly 1,200 hours of local news content that FOX Television Stations collectively air each week. Day to day, you are on the studio floor during live broadcasts, reading rundowns, cueing talent, and operating camera and lighting equipment alongside the production crew. The role is structured as a six-month training program designed to transition directly into full-time employment at a broadcast station.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as floor director during live and pre-taped broadcast productions, managing talent positioning and on-set timing.
  • Read and follow show rundowns in real time, adjusting to segment changes as they happen during broadcast.
  • Operate the ETC lighting board to execute lighting cues for studio productions.
  • Run a JIB camera and operate Vinten robotic pedestals during live television broadcasts.
  • Load and operate the teleprompter, keeping copy current and accurate for on-air talent.
  • Perform additional production duties as assigned across the station’s live broadcast workflow.

What You Bring

  • A college degree in Journalism, Broadcasting, or a related field, earned within the past year.
  • Clear oral and written communication skills, with solid command of English grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to take direction and perform reliably under the pressure of live broadcast deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn production equipment including cameras, lighting boards, and robotic pedestals after hire.
  • Comfort working in a collaborative studio environment where roles and priorities shift between segments.

Why This Role

FOX Television Stations operates 29 full-power broadcast stations across the country, including presence in 14 of the top 15 DMAs, which means the production standards and workflows you train in here reflect what the industry actually runs on. This Production Trainee role pays $13.00 to $15.00 per hour, with the final rate based on education, skills, and experience. For anyone trying to build a career in live broadcast television production, a direct path into a full-time station role is a credential that matters.
