Introduction

Processes For Profits (https://processesforprofits.com) is a growth and content agency helping businesses create high-performing content, funnels, ads, and client acquisition systems.

We are looking for an experienced full-time Video Editor to join our internal team remotely. This role is focused on editing short-form social media content and long-form YouTube-style content for our agency and clients.

This is not a junior role, freelance overflow work, or an agency outsourcing opportunity. We are looking for someone who can commit full-time, take ownership of the editing process, and produce high-quality content consistently.

The ideal candidate should be able to take raw footage and turn it into polished, engaging videos without needing constant step-by-step direction. You should have strong creative judgment and understand how to improve content through pacing, hooks, captions, B-roll, structure, and viewer retention.

You will work on content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Edit long-form YouTube videos, usually around 8–12 minutes in length.
  • Repurpose long-form content into engaging short-form clips.
  • Review raw footage and identify the strongest hooks, key moments, and usable content.
  • Improve the pacing, flow, structure, and engagement of each video.
  • Add captions/subtitles with strong readability, timing, and visual consistency.
  • Add relevant B-roll, screenshots, overlays, zooms, graphics, music, sound effects, and pattern interrupts.
  • Remove awkward pauses, mistakes, filler words, dead space, and weak sections.
  • Format and export videos correctly for different platforms.
  • Follow existing templates, brand guidelines, examples, and editing references.
  • Bring creative input and suggest improvements to editing style, structure, and content flow.
  • Help improve internal editing templates, caption styles, recurring formats, and production systems.
  • Organise raw footage, project files, exports, and final deliverables clearly.
  • Work with the internal review team and apply feedback quickly.
  • Reduce revision rounds over time by learning and applying the agency’s preferred editing style.
  • Maintain consistent monthly output and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly regarding progress, timelines, blockers, and revisions.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality while improving speed and efficiency over time.

Expected monthly output once fully onboarded:

  • Approximately 30 short-form videos/reels per month
  • Approximately 4–6 long-form YouTube videos per month

Over time, once templates, systems, and workflows are established, the target may increase toward:

  • 40 short-form videos per month
  • 6–8 long-form YouTube videos per month

Quality, consistency, and reliability are important. We do not want rushed, low-quality edits simply to hit volume targets. However, the candidate must be able to work efficiently and manage a regular production schedule.

Desired Experience & Qualification

The ideal candidate must be a mid-level to experienced Video Editor with a strong portfolio of short-form and long-form content.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional video editing experience preferred.
  • Proven experience editing short-form social media videos, including Instagram Reels, TikTok videos, YouTube Shorts, Facebook videos, and LinkedIn content.
  • Experience editing long-form YouTube-style videos, ideally 8–12 minutes or longer.
  • Strong understanding of hooks, pacing, retention, captions, B-roll, jump cuts, zooms, overlays, and social media editing.
  • Ability to take raw footage and turn it into polished, engaging video content with minimal direction.
  • Ability to identify the strongest clips, angles, hooks, and key moments from longer footage.
  • Strong creative judgment and good visual taste.
  • Good English comprehension, especially for editing talking-head, educational, business, or marketing content.
  • Ability to follow brand guidelines, reference examples, templates, and editing instructions.
  • Ability to suggest improvements to video structure, pacing, visuals, and overall content flow.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good file organisation and ability to manage raw footage, project files, exports, and final deliverables.
  • Reliable internet connection.
  • Own laptop or desktop computer capable of professional video editing.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain consistent monthly output.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and making revisions quickly.
  • Available for a full-time role, Monday to Friday.
  • Able to work during South African business hours.

We currently use CapCut in parts of our workflow, especially for short-form content and template-based edits. However, applicants do not need to use CapCut exclusively.

We are open to experienced editors who use tools such as:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Final Cut Pro
  • After Effects
  • CapCut
  • Canva
  • Other professional editing tools

  • Experience sourcing and using B-roll, stock footage, screenshots, and visual examples.
  • Experience with Google Drive, Dropbox, Slack, ClickUp, Trello, Asana, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of social media content strategy.
  • Understanding of YouTube retention and short-form video performance.
  • Experience working remotely.
  • Experience working in an agency or fast-paced content environment.

Applicants must be able to provide:

  • A video editing portfolio.
  • 2–3 examples of short-form videos they have edited.
  • 1–2 examples of long-form YouTube videos they have edited.
  • Confirmation of their role in each example, especially if the work was done as part of a team.
  • A brief note on which editing software they normally use.

Applications without relevant video examples will not be considered.

Shortlisted applicants may be asked to complete a paid test edit.
