Director/Camera Operator

THE ROLE:

Working on a rotating roster as a full-time Director/Camera Operator you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the crew on-air, ensuring that on-air production is to plan and meets the Producer’s requests. Operate camera during shows, framing and focusing shots to professional standards, to combine visual elements of the show according to the specified program look, theme and objectives.  

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE ROLE:

• Competence in television production techniques including composing and cutting between pictures plus knowledge of camera, sound and lighting techniques
• Understanding of what makes a visual presentation on television a success
• Significant experience in working in a television studio environment
• Creative technical flair to present products attractively, interestingly, and differently
• Experience in camera operation for broadcast Television
• Knowledge of camera use – Framing, focusing, lens properties
• Skills and experience in operating camera on pedestal and robotic system.
• Understanding of visual presentation principles, and of shots necessary to put together a variety of television shows
• Skills to use the technical equipment in the Control Room
• Communication skills for managing the people issues on the studio floor and for persuading and encouraging staff
• The maturity to handle crises and pressure when live to air, maintaining at all times a positive, can-do attitude
• An appreciation of what the customer might want to see / experience in relation to the product.
