Lead VFX Artist

Experteer Overview As Lead VFX Artist at CD PROJEKT RED, you will guide a team to craft real-time, high-fidelity visual effects that enhance storytelling in Project Sirius. You’ll shape the VFX pipeline, mentor artists, and collaborate across gameplay, cinematics, and environments to deliver immersive, performant visuals. This role combines leadership with hands-on artistry, situated in our Boston studio with hybrid options, offering meaningful impact on a flagship title and the studio culture. Compensation / Benefits • Lead and mentor a team of VFX Artists, fostering collaboration and growth • Design and implement impactful real-time VFX for diverse in-game moments • Drive technical excellence and creativity across the VFX pipeline • Set meaningful goals and support career development for team members • Collaborate with gameplay, cinematics, and environments to deliver immersive visuals • Research and prototype new workflows, tools, and techniques for real-time VFX • Ensure VFX content is performant and within technical constraints • Oversee external collaboration: briefs, reviews, and quality standards • Coordinate with Directors and Production to align VFX with milestones • Maintain an efficient, scalable production pipeline Tasks • 8+ years of experience as a VFX Artist in game development • Shipped at least one AAA title as Lead VFX Artist or in a comparable senior role • Proven leadership experience mentoring and guiding teams • Deep expertise in Unreal Engine 5 and real-time VFX • Strong proficiency in real-time and baked simulations • Solid knowledge of VFX pipelines and tools, including SideFX Houdini • Understanding of PBR workflows, shaders, real-time rendering, and lighting • Advanced performance optimization and debugging skills • Ability to independently lead high-impact initiatives and solve complex challenges • Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration • A strong portfolio showcasing mastery in VFX for games Key requirements • company-paid medical (dental, vision, mental) • 401K with employer matching • LSA monthly allowance • paid holidays (26 days) • flexible working hours • well-being resources and programs
