You’ll shape digital-first storytelling, SEO-driven content, and social-media engagement to expand reach. You’ll mentor newsroom staff while building a robust network of local sports sources. Compensation / Benefits • Command the sports desk for gameday studio shows, daily talk shows, and podcasts with authority and energy • Lead daily editorial by researching and pitching in-depth sports stories beyond scores • Provide big-picture analysis on professional and collegiate sports under tight deadlines • Secure and conduct high-profile interviews with athletes, coaches, and executives • Lead breaking sports coverage with live on-scene reporting for TV and digital • Shoot and edit video content (MMJ style) when required • Drive digital-first initiatives using SEO and social-media storytelling • Develop and maintain a top-tier network of local sports sources • Mentor and develop junior reporters, producers, and photographers Tasks • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field • Extensive proven experience in sports hosting and reporting • Experience in a Top 10 market or digital-forward organization • Expert proficiency in non-linear editing software (Avid, Adobe Premiere) • Professional camera operation skills • Impeccable accuracy and strong news judgment • Ability to thrive under live, high-pressure conditions and work nights, weekends, holidays • Valid driver’s license Key requirements • medical/dental/vision • 401(k) plan • paid time off • other benefits per plan documents
