Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and reliable Filmmaker / Videographer to join our growing, creative team on a long-term, contract basis. This role is intended for someone who is interested in becoming a consistent part of our team, not a one-off or occasional shooter. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for storytelling, composition, and movement, and is able to capture thoughtful, cinematic footage that aligns with our brand’s established style and quality standards. ** Must-Haves 1) Based in Nova Scotia (Ideally HRM) 2) Experience shooting on Sony cameras in S-Log 3) Weekend availability and willingness to travel This role primarily involves filming wedding days, with occasional branded or promotional projects. We are committed to training the right person in our workflow, expectations, and shooting style, and we provide all required camera and audio gear. Responsibilities – Film weddings and live events with a documentary and cinematic approach – Capture high-quality footage that supports story-driven, emotional films – Work collaboratively with our photography and filmmaking team on wedding days – Follow shot lists, timelines, and creative direction while adapting to real-time moments – Operate Sony camera systems and shoot in S-Log according to our standards – Deliver organized, complete footage following our established workflow – Communicate clearly before, during, and after event days – Represent the brand professionally when interacting with clients and vendors Requirements & Skills – Proven experience filming weddings OR willingness to learn – Comfortable shooting on Sony cameras and working with S-Log profiles – Strong understanding of composition, camera movement, and lighting in fast-paced environments – Ability to work independently under pressure – Receptive to training and creative direction – High level of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail – Comfortable working long wedding days and managing unpredictable conditions – Editing experience is an asset but not required Training, Gear & Team Fit We provide all required camera, audio, and support gear. Training will be provided to ensure consistency in shooting style, technical settings, and workflow. This role is best suited for someone who values collaboration, consistency, and is interested in building a long-term working relationship within a small, established creative team. Compensation & Workload This is a contract-based, per-event role. Compensation is based on experience and scope of coverage, with wedding-day rates discussed during the interview process. Editing is not required, though candidates with post-production experience may be considered for additional paid work if desired. For the right candidate, there is strong potential for consistent seasonal work and long-term involvement with the team. Location This position is in-person and requires filming on location throughout Atlantic Canada. Occasional in-person planning sessions may also be required.
